The second challenge from JoSoCrafty is the budget challenge. To create 3 layouts with 20AED (around 50k Indonesian Rupiah or about 17 Malaysian Ringgit).
Tough!! So let me just show you the photos and tell the story after each layout.
Layout 1
Background : A4 textured white cardstock. The weight is somewhere around 200grm i think, it is easily available in any bookstore. We are not talking about acid-free paper here. The price of a 30'x30' acid free cardstock paper is easily 4-5 AED over here in Dubai. It is around 10-12.5K Indonesian Rupiah or 3-4 Malaysian Ringgit. Not cheap at all!!. So I used 2 white cardstock. Cut the other smaller and sprayed it with Maya Road - Green Mist and Tattered Angel - Slate. Stamped another A4 white cardstock with Studio Calico Hot Air Ballon Stamp (my all time favourite). Cut the ballon. And also cut several circle using my fiskars punch. Adhered all the photos using glue tape and machine stitched the circle on top of the photos. Adhered the Ballon cutout using 3D tape. That's it. Total cost of 3 cardstock paper is 4.5AED.
Layout 2
The word 'filled with' is one of Ali Edward digital file that I printed onto another A4 cardstock. The typewriter font is also printed onto the same paper. Word 'happiness' is from one of october afternoon tiny types. The banner is simply machine stitched, also the heart. The tiny circle forming the banner just punched out from Carrefour catalogue.Total cost is just for the cardstock. 1.5AED.
Layout 3
My favourite. 2 cardstock on top of each other, the top one is cut smaller. The behind one is distressed using Tim Holtz - Vintage photo Distress Ink. 'Happy' word is also one of Ali Edward digital files, printed and cutted. The journalling is also printed to A4 photocopy paper. White butterflies is also punched out from photocopy paper using my many many many (a lot I tell you) butterfly punches. Doilies on the top right corner is from my ancient doilies in the kitchen drawer. Button from the extra button clothes. Total cost around 4.5-5 AED.
So, what do you think ? The layout above is simply minimalist. A cheap minimalist. If you are into minimalist style then it would be possible to cut down cost and still creating pretty layout. Untill the next post!
