jakarta singapore travel mini book - after

Hi all, I am back !!! ... from the hot and humid Jakarta, to hot, humid and very rainy Singapore to hot and dry Dubai .... :)

fluish and feverish, but here I am still in one piece.

bad news is, I LOST MY CAMERA!! .... at SINGAPORE CHANGI AIRPORT!!!!! ..... hiks, there goes half of my holiday photos!!, all the photos that I carefully took in Jakarta has gone, vanished, lost ......

I still remembered taking a photo at the toilet of the airport ... hehehe, yes, it's sort of my habit, the moment I landed I normally went to toilet immediately and took my own photo .... next thing is in the taxi to the hotel, I searched for the camera again, and none ... nothing, lost ... whatever .... it dimmed my mood totally. My mom, who knew that I am preparing to take every bits of photo that I can for the book, immediately handed me her camera, and said to used it as my own. *hugs* love you mom ......

So I continue to take photos, and write a diary as often as I could, I don't put pressure on me at all, if I am too tired on that day then fine, I'll just take it easy, but as I habit, I always collect boarding pass, ticket stub, bill, and as always, map!!!. Those are very useful to complete my stories. So lets go thru' the finished album photos first and I'll explain as I go along.

Boarding pass added and the envelope filled with my notes when we about to take off. It's kinda silly and embarassing notes (fyi, I have phobia of flying :P ). I also found (at my mom's house) a very old photo of me, my grandma, grandpa and my uncle at one of my grandpa rubber plantation land. A very vintage one!. It brings lots of memories so I kept it there.
I took this photo at airport waiting room with my iphone, therefore I still have it, the stamp is from catslife press stamp that I bought at singapore. Right paper is our menu on board. :)
the journal for the day we arrived at Jakarta.
photos from my sis and my phone. envelope contains journal for that day, it's kinda private journal so I kept it inside
also photo from my sis phone, and again, lots of bill. hehehehe

there is totally no photo for today, so what else, bill all the way!!!!!
we fly to singapore that day, so I put the boarding pass and photo from my sis camera.
map of the hotel and our first outing at singapore.
second day at singapore, we went to few places and I kept the toys museum brochure that I really love.

we took the open top bus tour, and I kept the map that they've given, along with few photos of the places that we see with the link to the place in the map

same here, went to sentosa island and did the same with the photos and map
harris's artwork for the island, and the ticket stub to one of the atttraction
the last day, therefore the packing photo!!!, notice how much my sis bought in this trip ?!?!?!?! , enough to sink the plane I tell you ... :P
one of my favourite object is the hotel room, here they are.
the leftover photos inside the envelope.
last page, boarding pass and the thoughts page, I will write it down here in my post and will just print and paste it there.
notes and thoughts;
  1. you can take million photos, really, millions, don't be lazy to take those!, I have a SLR camera, but always, for a trip like this I only take my small pocket canon ixus. Just to take whatever you think is nice. But, in my opinion, one should not be bother so much to take the scenery photo, what for ? You can always take those from the net, instead, concentrate on the sight of your son while he was in awe of something at the river cruise, your sis chasing his son around on the plane, your mom drooling over a bag in a shop window at singapore road. So the combination of the scenery and the people is the most important. There is one photo of my sis almost got herself drown inside a pond of sentosa island, she was fishing the toy that her son dropped there. I love that photo ... hehehehe .....
  2. remember, if you want to journal the day, do it there in your trip, on the day itself!, if you are lazy or too tired then just write a small notes. The moment I arrived home, I just wanted to print the photos, stick those in the album, put little embellie and move on. I don't want to spend time beautifying the album, mist here and there, it is kinda too much too me, it often made me stop and want to continue later which is almost never happen. So print, stick, glue here and there, and that's it.
  3. do collect ephemera, but limit yourself!! those things can overwhelm you later. I love maps, especially the 3D one, therefore I always take them, but I take only the pretty brochure, not the normal looking one.
  4. there are two pages that I purposely made them sticking out from the album. Forget those!. If you want to take this album on your trip, then you may want to take them in and out often to write notes, so those sticking out pages will look like a used kitchen towel at the end, so keep it simple, and have the cover (which are the thickest) the biggest size. it will protect the inside pages.
  5. you may notice that I printed the photos to look like an instant photos, with a white space below it. That space is hugely useful to write explanation or location of the photos. You might end up forgetting where is the location of the photo five years later, so writing it down is always good.
  6. I have mentioned it above, but want to stress it further. The moment I touch down in Dubai I am so ready to get this trip done and over. So please, don't plan too many things to do later after the trip for your album. I rather have a simple finished album rather than an elaborate beautiful but unfinished album.
  7. If you are not a journal or diary person, then the task of writing might be too much for you, so just forget it, caption below the photos is just enough. Don't worry, it is enough.
  8. ENJOY YOUR TRIP. IT IS MOST IMPORTANT.
 Till' later guys, bye !!!
